While I agree that in any way “blaming” fans in Tampa Bay and Atlanta for not going to these games is ridiculous, it does have a small but noticeable effect on how much a TV viewer enjoys the game. As someone who spends far too much of his time watching classic sports moments on YouTube, the crowd reaction IS part of what makes these moments special. The Johnson and Longoria home runs were incredible, but when the cameras pan to a stadium that’s two-thirds full, a bit of the magic goes away for the non-aligned.
