Media hits and general craziness
Thanks to everyone who wrote in with their kind words over the past 24 hours. I’m stoked to write this book, and I’m grateful for the amazing support network.
Two quick media hits:
I did a BlogTalkRadio Network interview with Rays blogger Tyler Hissey today. I haven’t tested the link yet, but you should be able to listen here. We discussed the future book, the fortunes of the Rays, and baseball in general.
On Sunday at 3:30 pm ET, I’ll be on XM Satellite Radio’s MLB Home Plate Channel XM 175 to talk baseball with Lee “Hacksaw” Hamilton. To give you an idea of what this means…I used to listen to Hacksaw when I was a wide-eyed 25-year-old just getting settled in SoCal. I even called in once…to talk about the Hideki Irabu trade. Sigh. The Expos didn’t give people much to get excited about in the Jeffrey Loria Era. Anyway, Lee’s one of the venerable voices of sports talk radio, so tune in for that.
Finally, a note about karma. Just over 24 hours after I learned about the book deal, we got blasted with one of the worst ice storms since…I’m going to say The Ice Age. We lost all power in the house. Also, we draw our water from a good ol’ New Hampshire well (instead of from the town supply). That meant that due to freezing, we didn’t have any running water either. So this morning, Angele and I (and the poor, freaked out cat) packed up the car and drove to Massachusetts to bug one of my 9,812 friends named Dave who live in the Boston area. It’s unknown when our power and water will be back, and thus when we can return.
So just wanted to give a shoutout to Mother Nature for making sure I don’t get too high at the end of this exciting week. If any of you ever catches me with a swelled head, feel free to administer a similar smackdown (though preferably not in ice storm form).
