The Demise of Jason Varitek, and me on Sirius XM Radio at 1:05 pm ET
I wrote a short piece on Jason Varitek’s sudden and nasty decline for the front of ESPN.com’s Page 2 today. Click here to check it out.
Also, I’ll be on the Baseball Beat with Charley Steiner show on Sirius XM Radio’s MLB Home Plate XM 175 at 1:05 pm ET today. If you don’t have satellite radio, you can check out the post-mortem at the Baseball Beat blog.
Oh and while we’re here, Joe Posnanski became the latest member of the Seamheads.com Dynasty League to put out a call to readers to help him choose his team (Indians), following his colleague Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star (Royals), and yours truly (Spos!). JoePos is one of the best writers in the business, and from the limited contact I’ve had with him, seems like a really nice guy. But he also appears to be a gigantic liar, or at least an embellisher who likes to humor hosers.
In this case, someone named Mike Lynch from Seamheads asked me to be in this historic baseball league. He mentioned that some famous people — Bill James! Mike Vaccaro! Jonah Keri! Curt Schilling! Tom Hanks! Julia Roberts! Barack Obama! Sarah Palin! Dave Eggers! Sam Mellinger! Tom Brady! Some of these people! — would be in the league.
To paraphrase Sesame Street: One of these names just doesn’t belong here, tell me can you guess which one?
