“Being and becoming…being and becoming…”

(7th blog post of the day! This record may never be topped…)

Just watched The Colbert Report from earlier this week, with guest George F. Will. Tremendous interview, which you can watch here.

Will’s an interesting character. Politically, he’s a true Conservative–free-market economics, but without the religion-driven hysteria over issues like abortion and other social issues (he’s not blameless in those area, but he’s far less shrill than many). In fact, during the Colbert interview, he said he’s an agnostic, which I think is both fascinating and awesome for a Conservative to admit in this day and age.

Will is also a huge baseball fan. One of my top 10 all-time moments occurred when I interviewed him for a “Leaders & Success” profile I wrote for Investor’s Business Daily, back in 2000. He told me he was a Cubs fan, then asked me which team I supported. After I told him I was an Expos fan, he paused and said: “Really? I’ve never met…one of you before.”

Watching Will spar with Colbert inspired me (well, Angele mostly) to dig up one of the best clips in the history of Saturday Night Live, “George F. Will’s Sports Machine”. Here it is, in all its glory.
